The RISE Malaysia
Uplifting Malaysian Tamil Community
Despite being the home to the third-largest Tamil-speaking population in the world, a large segment of the Tamil community in Malaysia continues to grapple with social issues and remain at the fringes of the mainstream society. Whilst DHRRA Malaysia continues to play a vital role in the development of the Tamil community as a significant and dynamic member of the Malaysian society through varied community development initiatives, we also place equal emphasis on the promotion of social enterprising as an effective mechanism in tackling social issues faced by the community.
Our Venture into Social Enterprising
In 2015, we successfully adopted the Social Entrepreneurship approach in facilitating the growth and progress of the Indian entrepreneurs in Malaysia with the establishment of the United Malaysian Indian Entrepreneurs Chamber (UNMAI Entrepreneurs). Through this initiative, a business referral network is created for the local Indian entrepreneurs to engage and exchange ideas, business links and experiences. The exposure and recognition gained through this endeavor led to us taking up an eminent role with The RISE Global, a global network of Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to the upliftment of global Tamil community through formation of partnership and sharing of resources We currently lead and host The Rise Malaysia, the Malaysian chapter of the RISE Global, as our continuous commitment towards advancement of the Tamil community.
The RISE Malaysia Summit
In May 2019, we played an integral role in the pursuant of the advancement of global Tamil community, by hosting the 2nd The Rise Global Summit of Tamil Entrepreneurs and Professionals at the Cyberjaya University, Kuala Lumpur. The summit successfully created opportunity for more than 350 Tamil entrepreneurs and professionals from all around the world to connect, empower and foster mutual growth towards sustainable relationship.
Tamil Women International
The Tamil Women International, is a platform launched by DHRRA Malaysia in collaboration with The Rise in March 2021 to open-up opportunity for Tamil women in Malaysia to converge at national and regional level, support each other and achieve collective empowerment in varied aspects of their lives. It encompasses a part of our ongoing initiatives to empower women as agents of development and change.
Our Aspirations
We will continue to adopt social enterprising as an effective approach in providing the much needed space and opportunity for business community battered by COVID-19 to take proactive steps in finding a solution and in rebuilding their businesses. The pooling and sharing of resources and expertise will help to steer the Malaysian Tamil community towards economic and social advancement, and contribute to the development of the society and nation.
