An income generating effort was initiated with Rumah Rapah in Taiping. A 5.5 hectare land was allocated for planting oil palm for 6 single mothers who are struggling in poverty. The project consist of 3 distinct phase. The 1st stage involved clearing of the land and preparing it for cultivation. The 2nd stage involved the planting of oil palm trees. The final stage required the women to plant cover corps around the land to ensure sustainability. The cover corps are also excellent method to generate additional income. It is hoped that such projects will assist women to be economically independent and enhance their quality of life.
