Mohana d/o Thiagu has finally obtained her birth certificate and MyKad (identity card) at the age of 15.
Because of some family problem, Thiagu and his wife, Mala, made some blunder when applying for Mohana’s birth certificate, 15 years ago. The mother’s name was wrongly written, and the father’s name was not included.
Therefore, Mohana was given a red birth certificate which classifies her as non-Malaysian.
When Thiagu and Mala sought DHRRA Malaysia’s help, we guided them in the right direction. All the relevant documents were submitted to the National Registration Department (NRD).
A DNA test was done to confirm that Thiagu and Mala are Mohana’s biological parents.
On 12 April 2016, Mohana received her green birth certificate (Malaysian). The next day, she obtained her MyKad.
Mohana thanked DHRRA Malaysia for enabling her to sit for PMR (government examination) this year, and giving her the rightful Malaysian identity.
