Join us in the nobel effort to create identity for our fellow Malaysians. Did you know: To run and maintain the MyDocument project, the estimated cost is RM600,000 annually.

Other costs include payment for the case workers, DNA test, documentation and data keeping, and on-going awareness campaign nationwide.

DHRRA Malaysia has been addressing birth registration and other legal identity documentation issues among the Indian community in Malaysia since 2003; and has also started dealing with the issues among indigenous groups in central Peninsular Malaysia.

The MyDocument initiative was launched in 2011 with the support of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Our aim is to continue to raise awareness among our community members in this matter and seek to resolve more cases related to legal documentation; especially birth certificate, identity card and citizenship. Through policy analysis and recommendation, we hope to share our ground level experience to address these issues.

Since 2004, a total of 8,350 birth certificate and identity card cases has been solved throughout the country. Besides that, around 5,600 cases are being processed at the National Registration Department (NRD).

Based on our initiative since 2003, we have documented the journey of individual cases which we have handled. A set of prominent cases has been compiled as a book in order to give an overview of the late birth registration scenario in Malaysia. This compilation has been published in Tamil as Unmaiyin Urasal (The Voice of Truth) with the support of PMO.

Some success cases are also documented in this website, and in our monthly DHRRA Bulletin.

We aim to continue to address legal documentation issues through awareness programs on the importance of legal identification documents, marriage registration, process of applications et cetera.

As a non-govermental organization (NGO) and civil society organization (CSO), we seek support from fellow Malaysians to come forward and support us in this effort.
